	2008 Gift of Life Gala Due to weather conditions, the Gift of Life Gala on March 8, 2008 was POSTPONED. The rescheduled date will be Friday, May 16, 2008! 2008 Gift of Life Gala The National Kidney Foundation of Kentucky is pleased to invite you to participate in the 2008 Gift of Life Gala on May 16, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Louisville. We will be celebrating our 40th Anniversary and honoring our founders, dedicated medical professionals and distinguished volunteers. The evening will be one of dining, dancing to “Eight Days a Week” a Beatles tribute band, and bidding on silent and live auction items, all in the spirit of supporting the programs and services of the National Kidney Foundation of Kentucky.

	NKFK Receives Award The National Kidney Foundation of Kentucky Receives Award At the 2008 National Kidney Foundation General Assembly awards luncheon in New Orleans, the National Kidney Foundation of Kentucky was awarded the most improved NKF signature event for the NKF Golf Classic. The award was presented to NKFK Executive Director Lisa Allgood by Chuck Fruit, NKF Chairman.

	Kidney Wise Newsletter for Physicians Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are represented in every primary care practice. The CKD population is growing as the causes of kidney disease continue to escalate, primarily diabetes and hypertension. These diseases are very prevalent in the state of Kentucky and CKD has become a serious public health problem. One in nine Kentuckians has CKD. It is imperative that CKD is diagnosed early as it is treatable and progression to Stage 5 may be delayed or avoided completely. There are many benefits to patients when nephrologists and primary care physicians work as a team to treat CKD and the associated co-morbidities. Download PDF
