Why:

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a growing epidemic and a major public health problem.

Locally, 1 in 9 Kentuckians are suffering from kidney disease. Diabetes is a major risk factor of CKD and is the primary cause of renal failure in 20%-40% of patients who are starting dialysis treatment. It’s time to take a stand for the prevention of CKD and diabetes. We need to work with government agencies to implement programs which allow health care professionals to diagnose, treat and educate those with diabetic kidney disease. It’s time for government to pass legislation to control the diabetes and kidney disease pandemic. So take action on March 11th and promote awareness of diabetic kidney disease!

Speakers:

Representative Mary Lou Marzian
Andreas Price, kidney recipient and advocate
Rob Gregory, dialysis patient and advocate
