2009 4th Annual Dean Kutz 5K Race
September 19th 8:00am-10am
Race Start: 8:00 am (Late Registration: 6:45am)
Early Packet Pick-up: We’re having an early packet pick-up, later registration for the Dean Kutz 5k Race at Browning’s on Main Street (attached to Slugger Field). We will be taking race entries and giving out race packets from 5-8pm. We will also be providing some food!
Start/Finish: 1st &Witherspoon Louisville, Kentucky
Information: The Waterfront course takes you through the heart of the city as you run along the Ohio River and through Louisville’s unique Waterfront Park. The 5k begins at 1st and Witherspoon St. and continues east onto River Road. Runners will loop around at Frankfort Avenue and continue back westward along River Road until connecting with Witherspoon near the finish line. This course will cater to all levels of runners and provide both enjoyment and competition alike.
About Dean Kutz
Dean Kutz was a veteran jockey who began racing at the age of 16. He was the winner of 2000 races and in addition to other awards, his fellow jockeys voted to give him the 2001 George Woolf Memorial Award. Dean was born with one kidney and later in life his lone kidney failed and his sister donated another. He assisted the National Kidney Foundation and other organizations throughout his life. In 1999 he was diagnosed with throat cancer and died in Lexington, KY on Sunday, September 26, 2004, He was 48 years old.
